The Cardiopulmonary Department is staffed by Registered Respiratory Therapists. We work with patients of all ages in every department of the hospital. We are members of the health care team that provide services to people who have lung or heart disorders. We support the development and promotion of pulmonary disease awareness and public education programs.

Patients include: Chronic lung problems (asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema), Heart attack victims, Accident victims, Premature infants, Cystic fibrosis, Lung cancer, and Aids

Diabetes Self-Management Education Program:

 

Individual patient visit with assessment by RN and Dietitian (Certified Diabetes Educators), education on blood glucose monitoring, meter use and meal planning.

 

Small group education classes covering “What is Diabetes?”, “The Basics of Eating”, “oral Medications and Insulin”, “Monitoring and Managing Diabetes”, “Personal Health Habits”, “Complications”, and “Stress and Coping”.

 

Continuous Glucose Monitoring System: continuously monitors blood glucose for 3 days and provides a computer printout of blood glucose trends and hidden episodes of hypo/hyperglycemia.

 

Insulin pump training, initiation and management.
